Ofsted Outstanding ProviderButtercups Early Years Centre is a Forest School, owned and managed by Nature's Pre-Schools Ltd., a privately-owned, not-for-profit company dedicated to providing exceptional early years care. Our Lead and Deputy Lead Practitioners are both fully-qualified Forest School Leaders and we use that expertise to make every day at pre-school a new adventure and a new challenge.

 

We aim to provide a stimulating and natural environment in which all children learn, develop and thrive through an imaginative and adventurous curriculum, supported by qualified and dedicated adults. We achieve this by exploring the beautiful natural environment around our setting each morning with the children, ensuring that they have plenty of fresh air, exercise and adventures. Research has shown that children who spend a lot of time outdoors grow in confidence and self esteem, developing independence and resourcefulness, have better social skills, more sophisticated written and spoken language skills, attention and focus skills, an increased awareness and respect for their environment, and as a bonus they also sleep very well - which brings its own rewards.

Parents And Friends Of Buttercups Early Years Centre is managed solely by the parents of the children who attend Buttercups.

 

The group is dedicated to forging closer links between Buttercups EYC and the community, acting as a forum to suggest improvements in the care that we offer and acting as a point of social contact for those parents who may feel isolated. We encourage all parents - whether their child currently attends Buttercups or not - to offer them their support and assistance in any way that they can. From the first visit to Buttercups, we knew it was the right place for him... the atmosphere created by the staff is remarkable... there is a sense of peace, calm, creativity, openess and nurture. Since the initial visit, [our son] has begun his 3 sessions... he looks forward to attending and is full of information about the things he has been able to do in each session - already he has been on walks; made scones; made a stickman; drawn; made friends and most importantly, loved each moment. The timings of the day are perfect - neither too long or too short and being one session each day, there is not the disruption of children coming and going. The philosophy and values instilled by the staff are fantastic... they are excellent role models ([our son] asked for couscous over the weekend, something he has never had, because his preaschool teacher had it for lunch!) and they pay incredible attention to detail - thinking about the small but important things that make children feel at ease - no shoes in the main room, playing on the floor at their level, a detailed starting pack that required a good amount of information about [our son] - giving them a valuable insight into his life.
